New Years Eve Party 2005 Adventure

The Adventure

This year, a collection of adventurers worked together to defeat an evil Beholder that had kidnapped Rufus the Dragon and invaded the dungeon of the castle.
The party consisted of coven of three Mages (Ralph, Chris, and Chelsea), a congregation of three Clerics (Donnamarie, Laura, and Dee), a band of three Explorers (Doug, Danny, and John), and a pack of four Fighters (David, Tyler, Rick, and Colin).

Each adventurer started out with a character sheet. This sheet contained details about their class, secret pass-phrases, and a token needed to solve the mysteries that would be reveled during the evening.

As the adventure unfolded, the players discovered that diverse teams were required to decipher the hidden messages and to discover the clues required to accomplish their task.
The following teams were formed, where each team had a Mage, Cleric, Explorer, and a Fighter:
- Donnamarie, David, Ralph, Doug, and Colin
- Laura, Tyler, Chris, and Danny
- Dee, Rick, Chelsea, and John

Each team faced a number of evil monsters, disarmed (and sometimes set off) traps




and located hidden clues and magic items




to eventually find the location of the evil Beholder and the means required to defeat it.

After discovering the entrance to a passage deep underground





the party entered and discovered the remains of a previous expedition.





It was then that they discovered the actual lair of the beast, its eyestalks barely visible beyond the darkness.



As the mighty creature rose out from its lair,



our hero (Tyler) attacked with his magic sword as the adventurers chanted their magical incantation.



The evil Beholder was subdued, Rufus was rescued, and a great celebration ensued.
